Vintage French Art Nouveau Brooch

This fascinating piece of jewelry was crafted from a French Art Nouveau frame top featuring a mystical Byzantine lady that was transformed into a custom brooch with a newer secure pin back and meticulously re-plated with silver at least a couple of decades ago. I first purchased it at an antique market in Paris in 2002. It has since naturally deepened into a lovely shadowed patina which really brings out all the intricately carved fine details of the original design. The brooch is clean and in stunning, sturdy condition — ready not simply to be added to a collection, but worn and enjoyed as well.
